Who can get help
Greene County residents. Food has no barrier (once every 30 days per household; homeless people may get smaller amounts more often). First-time financial help needs photo ID, proof of address, and the bill. Utilities need a disconnect notice; rent needs an eviction or 14-day pay-or-quit notice. Housing and utility help only for residents who do not owe money to the court.
Greeneville Energy Authority is the electric provider for Greene County. Its customer round-up (Community HELP) and Project Care donations, which GEA matches up to $2,000 a month, fund emergency power-bill help that Community Ministries hands out.
Nonprofit that coordinates local agencies and churches to meet essential needs, including rent and utility help, for working families just above the poverty line (ALICE).
